Google is full of articles and they mostly tell you the ‘what’. What people are doing. What you can set up. They are interesting, often very brief and lack the depth needed to really take action, they miss the how, the pitfalls to avoid and the crucial part a step by step proven process that I used to build my consultancy business to six figures in two years.
Let me get real for a moment, oh OK if you’ve seen or read anything, I have then you know I am always real.

This is a step by step guide that takes the guess work out of starting your own consultancy
Over the six weeks I will lay out the exact steps that not only I have taken but also feedback that I received over the years from others who have been in your shoes, at the very start of their consultancy journey. Call it the best of the best, the shortcut that I wish I had when I was starting so I could spend less time on the how and more time helping companies transform how they do business.
Within the steps there will of course be templates and tools for you to download and populate as you go through the program.

This program is all about sharing with you ALL of the tools, plans, templates and strategies to start your own consultancy. This includes all my research over the years and combines rich learnings from my academic work (yes there is some great stuff there as well). It’s like I have done the google search for you, sifted through all the crap, taken the juiciest bits that work and then made them real, practical, implementable so you can walk away confidently with a consultancy that starts to make you money.
BUT my friend this program takes you beyond strategy as that is often only a small part of what you need to take action.
Mindset work to get you into action
This is where it gets fun. This program gives you the, what I like to call the, nuts and bolts, the basics, the minimum needed but let me tell you having all of this will not matter unless your MINDSET is in the game.
This course takes you beyond the basics. It will challenge you. Prompt you to get really clear on what you want and WHY you want it. It will tackle limiting beliefs head on so you are in a position to make new choices to move you in the direction you want to go in.

Here’s a breakdown of the six…err I mean 8 week program that will take your inspiration to start a consultancy from idea to action. We start on Monday 25th February 2019 Australian time. Each day you’ll receive training delivered to your inbox in a range of formats and lengths. In addition, the day and time for the live training each week will be shared with you.
Let’s get this program rolling with some prework that will get you thinking exactly what you want to focus on. In all the courses I have done over the years I’ve found the ones that I have had the greatest impact have been ones that have had pre-work. It’s a chance to really drill down into what you want from the training as well as some questions and prompts to get you thinking about all the excitement that lies ahead.
This is a time to get creative, explore all your options and everything out on paper. I read once that if its not written down it doesn’t exist. Understanding what you want your impact to be and why this is important to you is crucial. Using our template by the end of the week you will have created your vision, desired state and one-page business strategy.
You will reach the end of this week with the tools and strategy in place to give you what’s required to. Using this 9 step process will help you get to what matters most which includes taking a good look at the competition, why consultants are hired as well as the best way to test and validate your ideas before you have even started.
No clients. No Business. Simple. This week we focus firmly on customer attraction and retention practices. How to avoid common pitfalls of solo consultancies and where to invest your time and energy in order to get the best results for your business. Using 20+ years of business development experience and sales training I’ll guide you through crafting sales scripts that feel right for you
This will take you through the planning required to actually get your business from your one-page business strategy into reality. It will give you step by step guides from business basics such as business registration, marketing to the tricker components such as IT. This is where we open our little black book and let you in on the secrets, our contacts and what we’ve experienced to be the best resources available.
This week we’ll dig deep with some major life questions and explore how effectively you need to change in order to live and BE the vision you designed in week one. We’ll get deep and reveal concepts that helped change my life and the way I now view the world. In additional we’ll navigate the pitfalls and opportunities around pricing. This can often be a sticking point and as this could possibly be the first time you have ever had to put a price on services YOU will be offering. Combine mindset work with worksheets to give you the method by which to price your services based on the value you offer.
Implementation baby!!! This is where the rubber hits the road, although each week you will have implemented what you will have learnt but this is where you use our templates to design your implementation and action plan with clearly defined targets, milestones, rewards, check ins and discipline techniques to deliver daily execution. If you are still working full time, then the tips and techniques I’ll share with you on setting up your consultancy as a side hustle at first will be invaluable! As this is around my 5th side hustle (they have taken many forms) I’ve taken the guess work out of this.

I know all of this is true because this is what I wanted in 2014 but had to search high and low for information. I had already started another business with my husband which he now works on full time and had helped him scale that to multiple six figures. For me I was faced with choices. Return to the corporate world and juggle (LOL!) a career with two small children, get a job not using my skills and paying me shit or start my own business.
With no idea about how, it was all going to pan out, I set up my own consulting business in a city I had recently moved to with a handful of contacts and a small contract I’d secured after being contacted through LinkedIn.
Over those Christmas holidays in 2014 I developed the business structure, strategy, tactical plan, marketing direction, branding built a website from scratch (this is where my husband’s techy skills come in very handy) all for less than $1000.
Six months later I was working with two clients, within a year I was subcontracting work and started as a sessional academic in a university tutoring on management to excited 1st year students.
By the second year I had grown my business to six figures, secured more work at university this time writing and lecturing on sustainability as well as re designing their management unit. The following year hit multiple six figures, graduated from a program for emerging female company directors and went on a holiday of a lifetime to Lapland to visit Santa, time with family then Dubai’s newest theme parks.
I made some really silly mistakes in the early part of my career because I doubted myself which I will definitely share with you in the training as I want you to experience all the sides and the learnings, so you won’t have to make the same $30,000 mistake I did. I have also spent thousands of dollars on courses and programs which you won’t need to after taking this training. I’ve built my own consultancy to six figures from scratch, in a city where I didn’t know anyone and without any experience as a consultant.
In 2018 I started to imagine what would it look like if I could empower, inspire and motivate others to reach the goals they had, to focus on what really mattered to them. What could they achieve? What impact could they have on the world? What difference could we make?
